Lewiston, New York’s riverside town provides families with the perfect place to start their fishing trip. It is also ideal for a family vacation, offering hiking, biking, exploring and jet boat trips.

Port Isabel, Texas
You’ll find Port Isabel in the far south of the Texas coast, offering good access to fishing. With wading trips, dolphin cruises and some extraordinary offshore fishing adventures, there’s so much on offer for all the family. Lower Laguna Madre along the Texas coast is also the perfect destination to look out for redfish and speckled trout.

Safety first
Before you pack up your tackle box and head off on your family trip, you need to think about what safety precautions to take while fishing. While you shouldn’t frighten your child about the water, you need to make sure that you discuss the rules of staying safe with the whole family. Children should always be supervised near the water and also taught the safe way to fish, such as lowering the rod safely and keeping it below the waist. Just by taking a few extra precautions, and preparing for the unexpected, you can ensure the whole family has a great time.

Fishing is a great way for the whole family to spend some real quality time together, without interruptions or distractions. Whether you choose a location nearby for a day trip, or make it a family vacation, it’s the perfect way to introduce your children to the wonders of nature.
