One of the most romantic days of the year for couples is Valentine’s Day. It is the story about the romantic priest at heart, who defied the Roman Emperor Claudius II who ordered all marriages and engagements cancelled so that he could fill his army. The ruler thought that his difficulty in recruiting soldiers was because the men were married. When he discovered that Valentine was secretly marrying couples he had him beaten and put to death on February 14. Circa 270 A.D. The priest was proclaimed Saint Valentine after his death.
