Sturgeon Bay-Door County: Maritime Heritage, Renewed Destination
Nationally Recognized Resort
Dinner boat cruises, Boston-style condos on water, yachts, charter fishing boats, theater, weddings, conferences, art galleries, waterfront dining, spa, sailing club, winery, museum, beaches, sand dunes, specialty shopping - all in one lovely location - the maritime heritage community of Sturgeon Bay, Door County, WI.
Home to shipbuilding from the beginning of the 20th century, Sturgeon Bay has had shipyards producing fishing trawlers, Navy vessels, ore carriers and some of the finest yachts in the world. Today, Sturgeon Bay has an added new frame of reference: a quaint coastal feel, several new inviting harbors and Marina, charter boats and dinner boat cruises, new waterfront condos with an inviting shore style, a nationally recognized Resort, and a sense of the Midwestern welcome.
The new bridge, crossing over the Bay, presents a different perspective when driving over and viewing the Marinas. Scenic yachts, sailboats and cruise boats are docked on both sides of the waterway. Centered in the midst of the Marinas and docks, are impressive ship building companies, where you can walk to see some the of actual ship building in progress. Across the bridge from the Resort, is the Door County Maritime Museum, providing an excellent resource regarding the nautical history of the entire Door County area. http://www.dcmm.org
