An easy drive from Kansas City, Sioux City, Des Moines – or a brief trip by air from St. Louis, Chicago or Denver – Omaha, Nebraska, is a great place for a mini-vacation, day trip,or romantic weekend getaway. Sure, there's plenty to keep you busy for several trips, but it will take a few more minutes of Internet research to make sure you know ALL there is to see and do so you don't miss something fabulous. Yes, fabulous in Omaha, NE!

If you're like most folks coming to the Omaha, Nebraska, area, you don't know where one county begins and the other ends, and furthermore, you don't care. Unfortunately, it's a fact of tourism marketing that county lines matter. That's true in most places in America. And it's true in Omaha. The downtown area of Omaha is in Douglas County. And the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau, being funded by Douglas County, heavily promotes their county's assets first and foremost.

But what about the other counties of the Omaha metro area – places you think of as just “Omaha”, but aren't marketed by Omaha? What about Fontenelle Forest, the Strategic Air and Space Museum, Cabela's, or the Fremont Dinner Train? Or Vala's Pumpkin Patch, Soaring Wings Vineyard, the LaVista Conference Center, and the Holy Family Shrine? All of these and more are in counties other than Douglas. All of these are less than 10 miles from Omaha city limits and the Douglas County line, some less than half a mile. Only two of them are (as of this writing) listed at www.visitomaha.com, the website for the Omaha CVB.

To get the 411 on ALL of the Omaha metro area attractions, lodging options, and dining choices, be sure to check out these websites, along with the one provided by Omaha.
