The Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto
The Place to Stay in Toronto
The Four Seasons is in the heart of Yorkville, Toronto’s most fashionable shopping, dining and entertainment quarter. It offers guests elegance and luxury and a chance to relax in midtown Toronto.
I had the privilege of staying there for four days during the June Luminato festivities. My room had been upgraded to a suite, which was the size of a small apartment. The view from the 26th floor, especially at night, with all of the city lights glowing far into the distance was breathtaking. The king-size bed was layered with soft sheets and downy duvets and there were two bathrooms. After I showered and washed away the dust from a full day of travel, the plush robe and slippers made me feel so pampered and relaxed that I lounged in my room as long as possible before returning to the lobby to meet my friends and colleagues for dinner.
Our first stop was the Lobby bar. We sat and talked for an hour while we watched a steady procession of beautiful people including a gorgeous wedding party. The dining options in the hotel include, in addition to a number of business and special function rooms, the elegant five star Truffles Restaurant, the Studio Café and the Avenue Bar and Lobby Bar. The Lobby Bar also has a coffee and pastry bar in the morning to accommodate early risers.
It was unusually warm during my stay in Toronto and a small kindness offered by the concierge staff impressed me greatly. Each time I came through the lobby there was an attentive employee offering me a much needed cold bottle of water. They were also invaluable and efficient in finding taxis and making reservations at local restaurants and attractions.
Besides being in the heart of Yorkville, the Four Seasons is within walking distance of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), the Bata Shoe Museum, the University of Toronto and several other galleries and museums. The Greyhound sight-seeing bus picked us up right outside the hotel. The Bay street subway is only a block away.
There was simply not enough time to take advantage of all of the services offered by the hotel. The exercise and workout room offered free juice, water, coffee, tea and fresh fruit. The deluxe spa offered a variety of massages plus manicure and pedicure. The heated pool was both indoor and outdoor.
The Four Seasons is most definitely the place to stay in Toronto.
