Chimney Rock stands 2,280 feet above sea level and has one of the most picturesque views in all directions and is one of North America’s great natural wonders. It is very close to Asheville and just down Hwy 64 from Hendersonville. It is a very quaint little town with little shops and restaurants and a flowing stream right through the main section just below the “rock”.

From its very beginning when Dr. Lucius Morse came to the mountains, he was intrigued by the giant granite monolith towering over Hickory Nut Grove. He bought the 64 acres surrounding it to protect the property and offered a nature preserve and scenic attraction for all to see and enjoy. Today there are over 1000 acres with so much to do. This “attraction” is not just for an hour or two. With the wonderful hiking trails, the beautiful Hickory Nut Falls, the Sky Lounge and more, you and your family will have one of the best days possible. In 1992 they filmed “The Last of the Mohicans” and the famous trail and falls were captured forever.

Chimney Rock is more that just a rock. It is the perfect picture opportunity for those memorable moments with a breathtaking background. From sunrise to sunset, there is a picture. You must take a picnic lunch when you go and spread the blanket on one of those special spots with a view. This is more than a walk in the woods, it is a natural family experience.

Chimney Rock is open daily all year except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s day. The rates are very affordable and part of that ticket price goes toward the preservation and conservation of the Park. So you are doing a good thing while there.
